Dominic has been part of the farm since the days of the original William Darpino Farm. He was once connected to the family's farm-centered business and, when that chapter closed, he remained simply as a beloved farm animal. When Sunshine Farm Sanctuary officially began in 2019, Dominic was already home — and he has been part of the sanctuary story ever since.

While we don't know Dominic's exact birthday, we do know he has a big personality. He loves treats of any kind — carrots, apples, and especially store-bought donkey treats. If you bring something tasty, you'll quickly become one of his favorite people.

Dominic is strong and naturally protective, always aware of what's happening around him. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he'll gently lift his head and invite you to rub right under his chin — his favorite spot. Scratch the underside of his mouth just right, and you've won him over.

Dominic also has a signature move: he shakes his hay bag to knock all the tiny morsels onto the ground before finishing what's left inside. He makes sure not a single bite goes to waste. He doesn't have a best friend in the pasture — Dominic and Gabe, our alpaca, are both strong-willed males, and while they're safely kept in separate pastures, they occasionally enjoy sizing each other up from a distance.

Dominic is brave, steady, and very much his own donkey — and we wouldn't have him any other way.
